Open Space Technology is a lightweight structure and set of principles for hosting highly participatory meetings. Wiki creator Ward Cunningham has often described it as wiki-in-a-room.

What’s so great about Open Space? For one, these meetings do not have predetermined agendas. Participants propose topics at the start of the meeting and multiple topics are held during each time slot. This gives everyone the opportunity to lead and join conversations that are only of the highest relevance to them.

Four Principles

  • Whenever it starts is the right time
  • Whoever comes are the right people
  • Whatever happens is the only thing that could have
  • When it's over, it's over
